In 2022, I ran for MN Senate in District 12, which is part of Stearns, Douglas, and all of Big Stone, Pope, Stevens and Swift counties. I ran as an Independent candidate under We the People. In order to get on the ballot, I had to collect 500 signatures in 2 weeks.
I ran against a 26 year, career politician Republican incumbent and a new DFL candidate. My campaign ran on a shoestring budget, raising and spending less than $5,000. My campaign team consisted primarily of me and my volunteer campaign manager/treasurer.
I ran because I am tired of watching the destruction of our country and our state. I couldn't just sit back and complain, I had to do something. Unfortunately, I was not victorious. I received about 4% of the vote. But I believe that I did prove that everyday people can take our country back, if we apply ourselves.
With that in mind, I have decided to convert my campaign website to a site for resources so that you can keep an eye on the Minnesota government.
Did you know that most meetings, hearings and sessions within our legislature are streamed and video recorded for public observation? Did you know that you can become a subscriber to specific committees, legislators and bills to stay up-to-date on topics that affect you? We need to be utilizing these resources to keep tabs on our elected officials. If there is one thing they have all proven to us, they cannot be trusted to do the job we sent them to do without supervision from We the People!
To set up your various subscriptions, get started at the Minnesota Legislature website
We all know that most politicians are in the pockets of special interest groups. We have citizen resources to keep tabs on where their money is coming from (thus who they are really serving) and how they are spending it.
Visit the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board's website for reports on campaign finances of all candidates. You might also want to look at the laws surrounding campaign finance, how money can be donated and how it can be spent. A lot of people don't know that the government relies on We the People to police candidates for malfeasance.
Do you want to audit the counts of your city, county or district? Maybe you're just curious about general statistics when it comes to voting habits of Minnesotans, or maybe, you'd like to start planning a campaign and need to learn more about your voting base.
A great place to start is the Minnesota Secretary of State's Election website. There you can download spreadsheets of results from past elections.
They work for you and they should be hearing from you. Regularly. On every topic you care to share an opinion about.
You can find the contact information for your representatives here.
Do you want to learn how to hold elected officials accountable to the promises they've made to the People in order to get elected?
Then you need to attend a Conservative Leadership training course from the Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership (FACL). You can find out more about those courses here.
We need more independent and liberty-minded candidates at all levels of government, from school board, to city commission, to state senate and beyond. If you are willing to help set our country back on the path of liberty and freedom, you can start here for more resources.
